Application of Carbon Molecular Sieves

24 Oct , 2024

Carbon molecular sieves are a new type of porous material with the characteristics of high specific surface area, controllable pore size distribution, and high chemical stability. Therefore, they are used in many fields. The following are some common applications:

Gas separation: Since the pore size of carbon molecular sieves is adjustable, they can be used for separation of gases of different sizes, such as CO2 and CH4 separation, oxygen and nitrogen separation in the air, etc.

Catalysis: Carbon molecular sieves can be used as catalyst carriers. Their high specific surface area and pore structure can improve catalytic activity and selectivity, such as methanation reactions, oxidation reactions, etc.

Application of Carbon Molecular Sieves

Pollution control: Carbon molecular sieves can be used to adsorb and remove harmful gases and solutes, such as organic matter and metal ions in water, benzene and sulfur dioxide in the air, etc.

Energy storage materials: Carbon molecular sieves can be used to prepare hydrogen storage materials, capacitor electrode materials, etc.

Life sciences: Carbon molecular sieves can be used for biological separation, enzyme immobilization, drug sustained release, etc.

In short, the application field of carbon molecular sieves is very wide, and with the continuous optimization of its performance, more application scenarios will appear.
